Gov. Phil Bredesen and Mayor Karl Dean will be on hand for a health-care conference from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Hutton Hotel, 1808 West End Ave. Organizers hope the conference will broaden the dialogue between community stakeholders wanting to improve Nashville's well-being.
Dean will share brief comments on setting the framework for health care. Also on tap to speak will be Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and founder of the Center for Health Transformation, and Dan Buettner, author of The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer From the People Who've Lived the Longest. Ben Leedle, vice chairman of the Nashville Health Care Council's board of directors and CEO of Healthways, also will be present.
The Nashville Health Care Council, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Center for Health Transformation are sponsors of the event.
